A desire for revenge that stretches back almost half a century is what drives striker Jong Tae-se to bring success for North Korea at the World Cup.
The Chollima reached the quarter-final in their only other appearance at the tournament in England 44 years ago but had their fairytale run ended by a Eusebio-inspired Portugal.
The two sides will meet again in a Group G match in South Africa on June 21 after North Korea open against Brazil next Tuesday.
And Kawasaki Frontale forward Jong is desperate to cause a World Cup upset with victory over Carlos Queiroz's side.
"It has been 44 years since we went to the World Cup. And just like the last time, perhaps by fate, we are again playing against Portugal," Jong told FIFA.com.
"Times have changed and the level of football has gone up since then. But like that time, we are determined to amaze people, to spring another surprise."
