World's Strongest Man cost MTA €15,000

The Malta Tourism Authority's total contribution to the filming in Malta of The World's Strongest Man, broadcast repeatedly around the world, was €15,000.

The information was given by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi in reply to a parliamentary question by Stefan Buontempo (PL).

I agree last years was a nice show, the valletta bastions looked outstandingly great. 15,000 euros for such an advert of Maltese great weather and grand history isn't much. Well done. In fact we need much more of this. The gov't should set on a joint venture partnership with a big filming industry like paramount to make a great historical movie such as the great siege or a tv series. This would produce great revenues, more visibility for tourism, employing many unemployed ppl as extras etc. And if the movie turns out great Malta's name would be synonymous with that movie perhaps named The knights of Malta. But millions have to be spent rebuilding medieval ships, costumes ,actors etc. As long as we get the best director it should be ok.
