Parliamentary Secretary hospitalised
Parliamentary Secretary Mario Galea has been hospitalised after suffering pneumonia, informed sources said.
He was taken to hospital yesterday and is being kept under observation.
Labour whip Joe Mizzi told parliament today that he was not taking part in voting in the House while Mr Galea was away for medical reasons.

Wishing the Hon Mr. Galea a speedy recovery to carry on with his remarkable work even if done away from the limelight.
As for Mr. Mizzi I beleive he did a mature and an honourable act; a move in the right direction not least to atone for a recent blunder.

I know personally both Mr. Mario Galea, and Mr. Joe Mizzi. They are both true gentlemen, and they are very well respected. After all politians are human beings too, and I greatly appreciate this move from the Hon. Joe Mizzi. On the other hand I really wish a speedy recovery to Hon. Mario Galea. Get well soon, so that you can continue the good work you are doing towards the Maltese community.
To all the other people, who as usual start mixing up things just to show their political hatred on this site, can't you just all SHUT UP for once!!! It's really disgusting how you manage to mix up certain arguments. And probably you think that you are achieving something by being stupid in your comments on this site!!!!! When you're going to show a bit of MATURITY in your comments??????????????????

@ N.cortis
I am sure that I would be expressing the feelings of most if not all Nationalist supporters by saying that they do not hate the PL, however that does not mean that we do not hate the way the PL media incites, twists and misrepresent facts and makes false allegations galore. It does not mean that we do not hate to hear Joseph say one thing and mean another, boast of accomplishments since he became leader of the PL while, in reality, he has set back his own Party some thirty years back by adopting the same policies such as toying with the idea of bulk buying. This is no PN invention, these were Joseph's own thoughts about the subject.
PN supporters do not hate anyone personally and never hear their representatives in the House hurl personal insults, swear at government MPs and worse offend the PM personally and using the lowest kind of language. That's personal. That's hate! And - that's envy.
There are some moderate elements within the PL but unfortunately they are smothered by the more militant and fundamental Socialist have-beens.
Good work Mr. Mizzi and speedy recovery Mr. Galea.
Victor Laiviera
Jun 9th 2010, 15:16
How hypocritical can you get? First you say you "do not hate" then you proceed to spout a litany of false allegations, lies and base falsities against those you have just claimed you do not hate.
I shudder to think what you would do to those that you Do hate.

Were you living in Malta during the 1980's? Or you have a very short memory, or better to say that you only remember the negative side of those times! Try to show some maturity in your comments, by saying true facts on both sides of the political spectrum. Probably you won't succeed!!!! Well, let's hope that the people out there can judge on their own intelligence. I wish you luck!!!
Alfred Vassallo
Jun 9th 2010, 17:12
Mela you convienetly forgot Mr. Martinelli, how way back in the 60's, I believe, a member of the pn parliamentary group went out of parliament, calmly opened his bonnet, took off his Battery lead, went inside again and struck a blow to a pl member. Now if that does'nt fall under Hate word, I don't know what does.

Typical of you Martinelli. If as you say Joseph has sent the PL 30 years back, why do you constantly worry that your darling Gonezi is going to lose the next election because otherwise you would not have to constantly try to defend the indefensible Gonezi.

The word " hate" should not form part of anyone's political vocabulary. Politicians on opposite sides are adversaries not enemies. People disgaree with each other''s political arguments. They do not hate each other's points of disagreement. Mr Martinelli belongs to an old school that is practically extinct in Malta. I got the same feeling visiting Maltese migrants in Autralia and in Canada years ago when considering the Maltese language our emigrants spoke - a language that I could hardly decipher because their understanding and pronunciation of the Maltese language had stopped at the stage it was when they emigrated to their receiving countries in the thirties and forties. Mr Martinelli has suffered the same fate, His politics of hate belong to the time when he left Malta when politically, people hated each other The Maltese are much more mature as a people now but Mr Martinelli is in no position to appreciate that. .
Meanwhole a speedy recovery to Mario Galea and a great "well done" to the LP leadership and to Joe Mizzi for showing, once again, that this LP is a mature Party that knows when to to make the distinction betweem wheat amd chaff.

best of luck for a speedy recovery to mr galea
I am sure the minister for health and other health dept top brass will be visiting him,
I would suggest that while they are there, they find time to go down( without advance notice) to the emergency waiting room and see how things are going there- it might make an interesting exercise for them-check if all staff is actually on the job, and if not, where and why? what time do the doctors come in for duty etc etc
once mr galea recovers, he could do some similar exercises as well during his recovery at mater dei

The PL has always shown the requisite maturity in parliament. It was those who tried to frame Justyne Caruana who defiled parliament and degraded it to a horrible degree.
