The Opposition has given notice of a no confidence motion in Education Minister Dolores Cristina over the suspension of EU funds for education programmes.

The motion, signed by MPs Evarist Bartolo and Owen Bonnnici, calls on the government to do whatever possible to have the suspension lifted as soon as possible.

It expresses concern over the shortcomings which led to the suspension, declares no confidence in minister Cristina and calls on the Prime Minister to remove her.

The Labour MPs point out that 582 students were affected by the suspension of funds, which hit the Comenius, Grundtvig, Leonardo da Vinci and Erasmus programmes.
