A 24-year-old man from Hamrun was this morning granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 after he pleaded not guilty to attempting to seriously injure his brother last Saturday at around 5 p.m.

Claudio Cassar, 24, of Hamrun also pleaded not guilty to slightly injuring his brother Antonio and threatening him. He was also charged with relapsing.

The alleged victim told Magistrate Anthony Vella he forgave his brother and did not want to testify against him.

In a separate case, a Libyan man was jailed for 10 days this morning after he pleaded guilty to threatening a co-national with a knife.

Nabil Tamimi, 38, of Gzira, pleaded guilty to verbally threatening Nissar Al-Gadi and carrying a knife without a licence.
