HSBC Malta offering management training opportunities

HSBC is offering graduates and students who are about to graduate a European Management Training Programme opportunity. The 20-month scheme allows participants to develop experience working overseas during short-term placements. On successful completion of the programme, trainees are given their first managerial appointments with HSBC Malta.

The closing date for applications, which can be downloaded from www.hsbc.com.mt/careers, is tomorrow. The programme is particularly relevant to young people aspiring for careers as commercial relationship or personal financial services managers.

Selected participants will attend a two-week induction programme at the HSBC Group Management Training College in the UK. Following induction, participants will undertake two overseas placements in Europe. Back in Malta, trainees will complete their course and ultimately receive their first managerial appointment at HSBC Malta.

Throughout the programme, management trainees will develop an understanding of HSBC's business strategy, values and culture; gain an overview of key financial markets and products; develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills; and enjoy exposure to the bank's senior management and establish a global network of contacts.

Participants have to be Maltese citizens and in possession of a first or second-class upper degree, not necessarily in banking or a business-related subject, or in the process of imminent graduation.

This month, three HSBC employees - Bonamy Mercieca, Mark Curmi and Karl Agius - will successfully complete the bank's 2008 European Management Trainee programme.
