Fehaid Al Deehani is the overall winner of the first Malta International Double Trap Grand Prix which was held at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija, yesterday.

The Kuwait double trap shooter finished with an overall result of 194/200 after scores of 145 in competition and 49 in the barrage.

The same impressive tally, however, was obtained by Sweden's Hakan Dahlby who managed 144/150 and a 50-straight in the final.

A shoot-off was required to determine a winner and Al Deehani prevailed as Dahlby missed his clay in the 26th round.

In all, 35 shooters took part.

Malta was represented by five Double Trap competitors and the best-placed was William Chetcuti. He failed to make the cut after a poor second round where he only managed 40 points. His other scores were 44 and 49.

There was better news for the MSSF in the Category B event. Here, the promising Nathan Lee Xuereb finished first, one point ahead of Italian Simone Lattanzi.

Xuereb had scores of 44, 44 and 40. He targeted another 40 in the barrage to deny Lattanzi from the highest step on the podium.

The MSSF was assisted by the Kunsill Malti għall-iSport and the Grand Prix was sponsored by Middle Sea Insurance, Bank of Valletta, Blue Line and Pintonino Restaurant.
