A 49-year-old woman died last night in an accident while she was carrying out work in her home, the police said this morning.

The woman, along with some relatives including her son, was on a balcony pulling up an item of furniture from the porch. At one time a section of the balcony collapsed and the woman fell.

The police went to the scene at about 9.15 p.m. accompanied by a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital.

The woman died on the spot.

Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona held an inquiry.
