A group of Indian high school principals from the New Delhi area will be in Malta between June 14 and 19 for a visit designed to showcase Malta's educational, cultural and social setting to Indian students. The programme of the visit is being prepared by the University of Malta and Malta's High Commission in India.

The visit follows contacts with private Indian high schools, colleges and universities developed on behalf of the University by Malta's High Commissioner to India, Wilfred Kenely.

Addressing the delegates during a recent gathering, Mr Kenely spoke of the advantages Malta can offer Indian students, such as the high standard of education at relatively low cost, the safe environment and the fact that there is no language barrier.

He augured the delegation visit will be the beginning of a long-term relationship between the university and the Indian colleges, and that such visits will become a regular occurrence in future.

Over the past three years the university has been actively promoting itself in India through the High Commission, and Indian interest in collaboration has increased at various levels, including academic exchanges, organisation of seminars, and sharing of knowledge and expertise with Indian higher education institutions.

The delegation will be led by Megha Srivastav, the university officer based at the High Commission in New Delhi. India's honorary consul in Malta, Johann Cuschieri, is also supporting the visit.
