Three corbelled stone huts (giren) at ix-Xagħra l-Ħamra have been damaged by vandals.

Majjistral Nature and History Park and environment NGOs in a joint statement concemned the attack.

These old rural structures are especially abundant in this area with more than 30 located within the park itself.

This was not the first time that vandals had targeted the park - various interpretation signs were destroyed as soon as they were put in place last year.

The park called upon the public to report any suspicious activities to the police.
