President George Abela is slowly making a return to public engagements, just over a month since he was brought from China on a stretcher after injuring his back in a fall.

The President will be meeting students who will be visiting the kitchen and gardens at San Anton Palace on Tuesday and follow the process of potatoes being picked for the upcoming event Ġonna Mdawla.

The event will see the palace private gardens lit up and opened to the public in an event to raise funds for the Community Chest Fund.

President Abela was flown back to Malta on May 4 and received treatment at Mater Dei Hospital for a few days before being being taken to San Anton, where he has been carrying out his official duties.

Yesterday he attended a performance of Carmen at the Mediterranean Conference Centre.
