Sliema Wanderers said in a terse statement this afternoon that they had passed on information on alleged corruption to the police for investigations.

On Tuesday goalkeeper Simon Agius filed a judicial protest against the club and its officials saying malicious claims of corruption had been made about him.

But the club in a statement on Wednesday denied that it, or any of its officials, had spread rumours about Mr Agius or his family.
