Alligators RFC U-11 captured the MRFU Damian Neill Cup after beating Falcons U-11 in a tight match at Marsa.

Alligators coach Robin Parnis England has always encouraged his young players to attack with pace and purpose and this refreshing style of rugby was the main difference between the two teams in the decisive match of the tournament.

The game began with Alligators pushing forward in pelting rain. When losing possession they defended with timely tackles and disruptive play against a very strong counter-attack from the Falcons.

Regaining the ball, some excellent passing and running from Alligators duo Brendon Dalton and Oliver Bartolo resulted in the first try of the day.

With the momentum shifting their way, Alligators capitalised on a number of turnovers to score on both wings.

Then, just before the break, Bartolo, supported by Gianni Zahra and Philippe Ioffe, got in for a try in the corner.

Falcons fought back admirably in the second half. They pulled back with two fine tries and conversions, but from another quick break, initiated by Dalton, Bartolo outsmarted four opponents with his running inside and outside to score one of the best tries in local rugby this season.

Alligators were deserved winners on the day and received the coveted Damian Neill Cup to wrap up a memorable season.
