A man was this morning jailed for 18 months and banned from having a driving licence for 12 months after he is released from prison, after he was found guilty of killing a man in a hit and run accident.

Raymond Borg, 41 of Valletta, pleaded not guilty to causing the death of Albert Navarro, 75, of Gzira because of negligent driving in a hit and run accident in August 2006.

Mr Navarro had been crossing the road on the pedestrian crossing and fractured his skull in the accident.
