NHS Haringey deploys 6pm electronic document management solution

Naxxar-based 6pm has successfully deployed an electronic document management solution to NHS Haringey in London to securely store and manage patient related documents and provide document collaboration between trust users and staff from other organisations in polyclinic settings.

NHS Haringey has now deployed the solution within adult services, with children's services to follow. The completed rollout will support 600 users.

The EDMS developed by 6pm in partnership with several trusts, has been designed specifically for use by community providers and converts paper clinical records into electronic images. The solution provides the trust with the facility for secure document collaboration between trusts, polyclinics and external agencies.

Security is fundamental within EDMS due to the sensitive nature of the personal data held within the system. The 6pm solution integrates with Spine Single sign on, in order to authenticate the user and verify their user rights and provides the foundation for the security model, inheriting permissions rights. Over-laying this is a complex matrix of trust specific security requirements around documents. The trust can ensure all clinical records are accurate and up to date, with version control and full audit trail capabilities to determine who accessed what, where and when.

"Our solution ensures the right information is available at the right time and in the right place for the Haringey clinicians and will support the trust's service transformation initiatives," 6pm chief executive officer Alan West-Robinson said.

Nicholas Ib, Head of Performance and Information at NHS Haringey commented: "After exploring numerous potential solutions for the conversion and management of paper clinical records, we selected the 6pm EDMS on the basis of "best of breed" software components and the robust security measures available.

NHS Haringey views the 6pm EDMS as a key investment in their future IT technology to help meet the efficiency targets set for the Trust within the next 24 months."
