HSBC honoured dentist Adam Bartolo with an award for being its 1,500th customer of the Bank's Business Direct service since this was introduced in April last year.

Through Business Direct, a customer may operate one single business bank account without the need to keep separate current and savings accounts. This allows customers to keep business separate from their personal accounts.

"Convenience and time are crucial factors for today's businessman who needs to focus attention on running the enterprise rather than on banking administration. With Business Direct this is handled swiftly and seamlessly without the need to visit a branch," said Gordon Scicluna, senior SME manager at HSBC Bank Malta.

Among the Business Direct benefits are a credit interest of up to 1.5 per cent per annum; access to a pool of business specialists; periodic business review; a 24x7 internet proposition with the possibility to apply different authority levels to operate the account by the holder or other designated persons; and a call centre support on 2380 8000 from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
