A young Somali died when the car he was driving hit a wall and a tree and then overturned in Marsa in the early hours of yesterday.

The police said there were three passengers in the car, all Somalis aged 18, 21 and 23. The 18-year-old suffered fractures while the 23-year-old sustained slight injuries. The other man refused to be taken to hospital, police sources said. The teenager resides in Fgura and the other two at the Ħal Far open centre.

The driver, 22, of Ħal Far, was driving a Hyundai Accent in National Road, in the direction of December 13 Road at about 3.30 a.m. when the accident happened.

According to the police the car ended up on its side after it flipped.

The man was badly injured on impact and died in hospital.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit launched an inquiry into the accident.
