The share prices of Bank of Valletta plc and HSBC Bank Malta plc continued to move in opposite directions on the exchange this morning.

While BOV's equity edged minimally higher to €3.282, the share price of HSBC succumbed to further selling pressure and dropped to €2.97 - the lowest close for 2010.

Trading volumes weakened in the equity market as only €45,000 worth of transactions were recorded across the three active equities. Medserv plc closed unchanged at its all time high of €4.30 on a thin trade of 400 shares.

The share price of Malta International Airport plc failed to readjust to the 2-for-1 share split effected yesterday. The company's total issued share capital increased to 135.3 million shares of a nominal value of €0.25 each.

Listing of the three new Malta Government Stock issues is expected in the coming days. Meanwhile the allocation policies to be adopted by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and Eden Finance plc in their respective bond issues are also expected to be announced next week.
