Finance Minister Tonio Fenech yesterday said he could not answer a series of opposition parliamentary questions on persons or organisations that had not paid VAT or failed to issue fiscal receipts, or what steps had been taken or were intended to be taken against them. Such information fell under the confidentiality clause of the Value Added Tax Act.

He assured the opposition that every reported breach of the VAT Act had been investigated.
