Man 62, accused of sexually harassing woman, 60
A 62-year-old man who allegedly pulled his shorts down in front of a 60-year-old woman, has pleaded not guilty to offending public morals and harassing the woman.
The man was taken to court this morning, after the incident which allegedly happened yesterday. The man was on the roof of his house. The woman is a neighbour.
The court imposed a ban on the name of the accused and on the details of the case.
The man was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000. He was ordered not to go on the roof and not to approach the alleged victim.

Perhaps it was the neighbour who was harassing the man! Who are we to judge? I've heard of such stories before and I'm amazed at the way people are ready to point a finger without having been supplied with all the details. Do we know what prompted the man to do such a thing? It's also true that two wrongs don't make a right but I think many of the comments in these columns are written by people who are always ready to see the speck in other people's eyes and fail to see the beam in their own!! So please, do stop and think before playing the judges!

He can't go on his own roof????????????? This is ridiculous!!! & FUNNY if you think about it. So I cant stay sunbathing on my own roof??

Sunbathing is the least of his problems. He can't even fix his TV antenna or satellite dish, or check the water tank. This sentence is ridiculous.

Why are so many of us minimizing the situation? Independently of who or where or in front of whom, exposing oneself is a perverted infringement on society and needs to be punished. I remember, as a child, it was common for perverts to expose themselves in public places, the Upper Barrakka. most predominantly comes to mind. I remember my mother chasing a man and hitting him with her handbag for having exposed himself to me when I was merely seven years old. If someone were to have done that to my child or to me in the US where we reside and was a repeat offender, he would have undoubtedly warranted a prison term. Come on folks perversion needs to be given the importance it deserves.

I fully agree with you. But what makes people mock is the way things are reported and the ridiculous sentences handed by judges (in this case, he can't go on his own roof!).

So he can't go on his own roof?????? Why didn't he ask the lady to put up a separation to give her privacy?

Not usual for a pensioner to receive an indecent proposal, it's a quite a compliment!

I think he must be short of money, as no underpants are mentioned here. Just that he dropped his shorts down. Maybe he forgot to wear a belt and as he was hanging the clothes, it fell down.
I think the lady wasn't amazed with what she saw....hehehe

This is unbelievable only in Malta, a man drops his pants and flops his private bit infront of another pensioner and is bound for 1000€, Yet a while bank an English bloke punches a security officer doing his job, and the English man is let off with a small fine and a 3 months suspended sentence......... As i say only in Malta

Yes mate religion and sex plays a big part in Malta still, however punching a man doing his job, or even cause a mayhem like some pommies and Maltese i may add, just get away with it scot free, but if some happy go lucky fellow decides to do a streak he gets bound for ex amount of dollars what a laugh, glad i don;t live in that old fashioned country, maybe some of my brothers should come over to OZ they'll make a fortune in fines, expecially down Bondi Beach, bare breasted women enough to write a book as long as your arm and now and then some old jocker streaking for a laugh on the cricket field.

What this man allegedly did is illegal. But what about the hundreds of women who break Maltese laws on Maltese beaches? This is grossly unfair - a man struts his stuff on his roof in front of one elderly woman and he is arrested while hundreds of women break Maltese law and strut their stuff in front of my 10 year old child and everything is fine with the law. HYPOCRITES!

Is this comment serious? Or are you just being sarcastic?
You think your 10 year old child doesn't know what a women's body looks like? And as far as I know the furthest it goes is topless bathing, and even that is rare!! Maltese ladies, back to full swimsuits, preferably with shorts as well..
"a man struts his stuff on his roof in front of one elderly woman" so that's ok?!
Yes she was brave to take him to court. Because what this man did on his roof to his neighbor, who I assume he knows, can do as well to strangers.

Personally I find no problem with either a man or a woman exposing themselves to me or to any 'normal' human of whatever age. What I can't stomach is the fact that this man allegedly exposed himself in his own property and a woman chose to look and report him upon which the police and courts took action. Meanwhile women who expose themselves illegally on our beaches are ignored by the police and courts. I don't care if top less bathing harms no one. If it is illegal it should be prosecuted with the same force as this man was prosecuted. Otherwise change the law to make it legal.
This man, whoever he is, should not be going through this.

I can't find the funny side in this. A pervert is a pervert whatever his age. What if he exposed himself in front of an 18 yr old? Would have been called a dirty old man. And if the girl were 13?

If life starts at 40 this man is 22 and the woman is 20 years old! Both have the consenting age! To all those who are poking fun at this story of old people... just remember every day counts for every one of us, provided we are lucky to reach 62 or 60 with all the contemporaneous ailments that deprive citizens of their lifelong earned pension!

Wars are started because of women? As far as I can tell, all throughout history wars have been started by megalomaniac males and by religions, of which women and children are actually the first victims to suffer.
What a backward, macho cave men mentality. You have just proven exactly what I mean.

ONe of the most famous wars in human history was Troy and if you know your history the war started because helen decided to leave her husband and run away with one of the princes of troy. so stop being aknow it all and take life with a smile mr.rodenos was only makin a funny remark about the incident.

@Aaron Cole
I agree he was making fun of the incident but also he was perpetuating a negatiave stereotype of women, namely that they are responsible for all the woes of the World.
So Helen of Troy ran off with someone else - I am sure that her husband had plenty of other women to chose from - but he chose war because his fragile male ego was wounded. Now, had he been a woman, he would have kept the house or Palace in this case and children and said 'good riddance' to bad garbage and moved on with his life.
