Censu Galea was this afternoon appointed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The former minister, who has been an MP for 23 years, succeeds Labour MP Carmelo Abela, who resigned in protest over rulings given by the Speaker during voting after a debate on the power station debate.

The Opposition voted against Mr Galea's appointment.
