Health warning on Derby peach ice tea

The Environmental Health Department has warned against the consumption of Derby peach ice tea because of the presence of unwanted yeast.

It was reported that the yeast formed lumps inside the product, which were visible to the naked eye, and were not the kind of thing one would want to drink.

Asked about possible side effects, a spokesman for the Health Ministry said the problem was that a supposedly "sterile" product had microbial growth in it. So far, only the batch produced on January 27 has been found to contain yeast. It is sold in 500cl bottles and was manufactured in Bulgaria.

Excessive quantities of yeast in drinks have been reported to cause bloating, stomach cramps and nausea.
