The AFP report OECD Welcomes Israel As Member (May 28) gives the impression, wrongly, that Israel was the sole new member to join the OECD.

In fact there were two other countries, Slovenia and Estonia, likewise inducted along with Israel.

A reader, knowing that Israel is every year receiving three billion dollars' worth of economic and military aid from the USA, would certainly be astonished to see that country a member of the so-called rich countries' club.

With these three new members, the OECD membership has now risen to 34.
