Enemalta deputy made acting chairman

Edmund Gatt Baldacchino has been appointed acting chairman of the Enemalta Corporation as from today.

He replaces engineer Alex Tranter, who stepped down two months ago to join a multinational company. Mr Gatt Baldacchino was deputy chairman.

Mr Tranter was recently at the centre of controversy after the Auditor General, in his report on the tendering process for the Delimara power station extension, had said he should have resigned because of a conflict of interest.

Mr Tranter had described this assertion as gratuitous and contrary to the Enemalta Act as well as the Code of Ethics approved by Cabinet.
