New Children's Commissioner Helen D'Amato said today that children should be allowed to live their childhood and not be treated like 'mini-adults'.

She made brief comments during a visit to St Paul's Primary School to mark International Children's Day.

The pupils celebrated the event by holding a concert. The school was chosen because the schoolchildren come from many nationalities.

Mrs D'Amato said the children accepted each other and ignored race or religion. Adults, she said, needed to heed their example.
