Malta winger Trevor Cilia has pledged his future to Birkirkara FC after agreeing a new three-year contract with the champions.
Cilia's previous deal expired at the end of the season but the Stripes moved quickly to offer their prized asset a new contract.
Talks between the two parties were successfully concluded yesterday when Cilia agreed to extend his stay with Birkirkara for another three years.
"I can confirm that Trevor Cilia has agreed a new three-year contract with Birkirkara FC," John Borg, the Birkirkara FC vice-president, said yesterday. "This is great news for the club as Cilia is a very important player for our team."
Cilia has enjoyed an outstanding season with Birkirkara, scoring 12 goals in the side's title-winning campaign.
The 27-year-old is regarded as a strong candidate for the Footballer of the Year award.
