The Broadcasting Authority has fined Smash Television €1,164 after it found that rules on political balance in discussion programmes had been broken in its programmes L-MEP u Int of January 29, February 26 and April 9.

The Authority found that the only guest for the programmes was Labour MEP Edward Scicluna and issues of political controversy had been discussed, without balance from people having different views.

The Authority noted that it had previously warned the station that programmes of this type needed to be balanced either within themselves or over a series of programmes.
