Sister pianists Federica and Francesca Badalini recently performed their 'Quattro Mani' piano concert at the Manoel Theatre.
They played pieces from well-known film soundtracks as part of their project 'Cinema in Note - Cinema in Music', organised by the Italian Cultural Institute and Fiesole Artistic Productions.
The programme was presented by film critic Tony Cassar Darien with his analysis of the artistic and musical values of each film's background and soundtracks, and included works by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Nino Rota, Leonard Bernstein and Ennio Morricone and landmark films like Titanic, Il Gattopardo, West Side Story, Doctor Zhivago, The Godfather, The Phantom of the Opera and Once upon a Time in America.
The concert ended with the performance of several famous Neapolitan songs from the 1954 film Carosello Napoletano.
Gaia La Cognata, first secretary at the Italian Embassy, conveyed the best wishes on behalf of Ambassador Paolo Andrea Trabalza.
