A Żejtun bar owner was yesterday charged with disturbing the peace after playing loud music in the early hours of the morning and disobeying police orders.
Simon Camilleri, 26, who lives in Żejtun, was charged with keeping his bar open beyond the times stipulated in his permit and playing loud music late into the night.
Mr Camilleri was also charged with disobeying police orders to turn down the volume and close his bar when the police turned up at 2.45 a.m. yesterday morning.
The bar owner pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €3,000.
The bar owner was also ordered not to approach Żejtun village square and now has to find someone else to run his bar.
