Little difference between left and right
Can anyone explain to me the difference between left and right politics? I am seeing too much common ground between them in both Malta and overseas. I am not referring to extreme right and extreme left because I am convinced that extremes meet.
Is it time perhaps to have a right-left or left-right politics?

Joe Xuereb, for the great majority of Maltese and Gozitans the Catholic Church comes first and foremost. It's enough to see their participation in Church activities: Masses, feasts, the Sacraments, funerals in the Catholic Church, etc.
It's heartening to tell you that today, feast of the Holy Trinity, thousands of Maltese and Gozitan children have made their First Holy Communion. These amount to 96% of all their peer children. It augurs well for the future of the Catholic Church in Malta and Gozo.

The vote is a democratic right, a privilege. Voting is a responsibility. Fine words. And many swallow them hook, line and sinker. Problem is, approaching the voting-booth, who do I vote for? (I junked mine only recently). If I like killing birds and a particular Party seems to condone me/is not fussed about it (to ensure my vote), I might vote for such a party. This seems the level of maturity in Malta-style voting. Not good. So best not to vote like I didn't recently. Then, whatever the outcome, I've had no say in it. I sleep easy. Like I may be invited to a drinks party but if I don't like the host, I prefer to go to the cinema instead. Or watch that other joke EUROnightmare Song Contest - first song from Azerbaijan, in English, for goodness' sake! - on telly.
G.Schembri. Indeed, true Socialism is true Christianity. Preferably with the religion bit taken out. Problem is, I think Joe Zammit wouldn't see eye to eye with me on this. In fact I know he wouldn't. And I guess he would see junking the vote as sinful.

G. K. Chesterton said: "The whole modern world has divided itself into Conservatives and Progressives. The business of Progressives is to go on making mistakes. The business of the Conservatives is to prevent the mistakes from being corrected.

Politicians of all colors (Red-Blue-Green-Yellow, White ...etc) and of any direction (Right-Center Right-Far Right-Left-Center Left- Far Left-Upside Down…etc are [STILL] and of same color. However it all depended on which side of the barrel you stand, whether you are facing Mecca or the Vatican or dwelling in the white house or in a cave in Afghanistan.
Probably, from all directions the upside-down party is still the only political party that officially nonexistence but unofficially exist and this can be easily spotted whenever we see many stuntmen in forms of politicians!

Perhaps after such a long time of trials and tribulations, both sides realised that the road in the middle is the best. ie, half right and half left. The majority of people have one component in common and that is THE FAMILY. Others have political philosophies as their main interest with Full Capitalism on one extreem side and right down Communism on the other, but one observation I made throughout my life, is that out of Russia whose stalwarts, preached communisim and equal sharing, came out the greatest number and richest individual Billionaires. Or did I misunderstand Communism and Socialism, as what I thought to be that everybody is entitled to basic living , in real fact, it means that in communism, everybody should live as a billionaire , and better off than any capitalist.!! If that is the case, I am so stupid!
I always thought that staying in the middle would leave a few natural resourses left for our children.

If here is no difference than we should make it by not turning up at the call of our dear politicians. It is sick and pathetic to hear people from both sides complain about their respective parties. Yet when election day comes we all flock to the polling booths. like hungry dogs at the sighting of a meaty bone. We dont agree with them we ignore them. We are here all the time they need us to be there that is the meaning of power to the people

If we don't agree we make ourselves heard, by not voting you are renouncing to a basic right. The General Election is the only sign of Democracy in Malta since for five whole years the government (even with a handful of votes majority)does whaterver it wants, If you don't agree with your party go and vote for another party there is always AD. Had more people voted for AD we might have had a better government, since we would have had a coalition government, with AD .

Politics is all about power and money. Socialism has no money value except to those who are in power.

Its no longer a fight between two opposite philosophies with different visions for the country, but just a fight for power.
