Slovenia to take 10 migrants from Malta
Slovenia will accept up to 10 refugees from Malta as part of an EU project aimed at helping the country, the Slovenian government has announced.
Slovenia had been among the countries which last year backed the European Commission's pilot project for the resettlement of migrants from Malta.
"Malta's project is about expressing solidarity with an EU Member State which has been under pressure due to a massive influx of refugees," Slovenian Home Affairs Minister Katarina Kresal had said at the time.
Fifty-two refugees from Eritrea, Sudan and Somalia left Malta earlier this week to begin a new life in the United States. The US has taken 486 refugees from Malta in two years.
France recently committed itself to take 92 refugees from Malta. It took a group of 95 last year.

At least Slovenia took 10,granted it's not a lot, but better than nothing, it's up to us to solve this problem, I don't blame the other countries, if I was in their shoes, I wouldn't take any .either.

Illegal immigrants have again turned Malta into beggar on the world stage. Previously we used to beg for money. Now we beg others to take a bit of the burden from our shoulders.

For you information, Slovenia is a very small country like malta and has approximately 4.500 refugees and asylum seekers, again just like Malta. Not to talk about the amount of refugees which fled into Slovenia during the war in ex-Yugoslavia. Malta should start observing european regulations and stop crying out for help as usual. It seems to me that no much complaining is done when it comes to tax earned from the cargo ship which pass through Maltese territorial waters.

"Slovenia is a very small country like malta"
Malta Population = app. 400,000
Slovenia Population = app. 2,000,000
Malta Area = 316 sq km
Slovenia Area = 20,273 sq km

David Anastasi: I agree with you Slovenia is a small country. But if you do the math according to your figures, Malta per capita has 8 times the population of Slovenia. In saying that this was a good gesture by Slovenia and hope more EU countries will follow.

Well, considering a population of 2mil, 5 times ours, a 10 is a great figure. That is considering the number of migrants larger countries like Germany or UK take (as in 0 ).
Good start from a friendly country, now let's hope all the others do the same, with the same migrant/population ratio or a better one..
