A couple in their sixties were hospitalised early this morning following a fire at a house in Vincenzo Adrario Street, Zebbug.

The couple – a 68-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, were sent home after treatment, the police said.

They said they were informed of the fire at around 1.45 a.m. It seemed that some material on fire was thrown between the front and inner door of the residence. The fire was put out by the police with a fire extinguisher with the help of neighbours who were on site.

Members of the Civil Protection Department ensured the area was safe.

Duty magistrate Audrey Demicoli has appointed experts to help in an inquiry.
