Tax Compliance Unit accountants have stepped up their industrial action by refusing to make use of their e-mail accounts on the strength of another directive issued by the Union Ħaddiema Magħqudin.

On May 17, the employees were instructed not to take telephone calls after the union said the government had failed to react to its working conditions proposals.

The union said the Management and Personnel Office had still not sent any counter proposals, thus, the accountants were instructed to set their e-mail accounts to automatically transmit a message explaining they are "unable to communicate with you by telephone and/or e-mail as per UĦM directives".
