Twanny Borg, known as il-bona, who was stabbed in Marsaxlokk last February, called the man being charged with his murder three times on the day of the fatal stabbing, the court heard this morning.
Testifying in the compilation of evidence against Allan Galea, who stands accused of Il-Bona's murder, Mr Galea’s girlfriend Amanda Grech told the court that on the day of the stabbing, she and Mr Galea dismantled their stall from the Marsaxlokk market at around 4.30 p.m.
At one point, the mobile phone rang, she answered it, realised it was Mr Borg and passed it on to her partner. She did not know what was said.
Mr Galea left the house slamming the door behind him.
A few minutes later, the phone rang again and Mr Borg was on the line. He told her to tell Mr Galea to go. In another call a few minutes later, Mr Borg threathened he would cut Mr Galea to pieces if he did not go.
Ms Grech said she was afraid and called an emergency service. She was not sure who she called but it was probably the police. She told them there was going to be a fight with knives at the PN club.
She told the court she was very scared, so much so that she went out in pyjamas, something she had never done before.
She recalled that she went to square where the murder took place and saw some people talking. Somebody told her a man had been shot but she was not given any details. However, her heart skipped a beat.
She said she found out what had happened later on the evening news.
A request for bail was made but this will be considered after the court hears the final witness.
