Enemalta said yesterday it had no agreement with Polidano Group for the disposal of construction waste from the Delimara power station extension in a Lapsi quarry.

It pointed out that during the Malta Environment and Planning Authority hearing last week, which granted a full development permit for the power station extension, no Enemalta official mentioned that the quarry belonged to Polidano Group.

In fact, as reported by The Times, it was the report by Mepa's case officer that highlighted the Lapsi quarry in the limits of Siġġiewi and which belongs to the Polidano Group as the site for construction waste disposal.

Polidano Group subsequently denied it had any arrangement with Enemalta to accept the waste in its Lapsi quarry.

Enemalta did not say whether it had any arrangements with quarry owners to dispose of the waste generated by the power plant's construction.
