The Mepa Enforcement Section over the past two weeks removed large quantities of illegally dumped building material, derelict vehicles, a wooden room in a field and a hunting tower.
The Authority said it also closed off a vacant site that was being used as a mainantence depot for yachts within a residential area and confiscated equipment from a garage which was illegally operating as a commercial car wash outlet.
It said that in an area known as Il-Hotob, limits of Qormi, the Enforcement Unit removed large quantities of derelict vehicles, building material and a concrete platform from two fields that were illegally used as depots.
Also in Qormi, the owners of two sites that had rooms within their garden areas, removed their illegalities after notification of immediate Direct Action.
In Zabbar, the Authority removed a number of derelict vehicles and car parts from the rooftop of a VRT garage in a residential area. Close to this site, MEPA also carried out an extensive operation to remove large quantities of building material and other scrap material from Misrah San Nikola which is yet an undeveloped open space within the town.
From two adjacent fields in an ODZ area, known as Ta' Sansajna in the limits of Birzebbugia, the Authority removed a wooden room, a hunting tower and an illegal boundary wall which was used to cordon off the field.
In Wied Babu, limits of Qrendi and a separate site limits of Zurrieq, enforcement personnel removed large quantities of illegally dumped building material, skips, caravans and other material which was being stored as scrap.
In a residential in Ta' Xbiex, Mepa cleared out and blocked off a site which was being used as a depot for the maintenance of marine vessels and yachts causing an inconvenience to neighbours. The Authority also confiscated equipment and removed signage from a garage in Birkirkara that was recently illegally changed into a commercial car wash outlet.
