The afternoon meeting at Marsa yesterday included three SECF-Malta races with the participation of French drivers.
Victory in the first international race went to Clifforty Calleja, driving Mirage D'Ete. This winner initiated its final attack 200m from the post to finish ahead of Koko Loco.
Noel Baldacchino, with Noble Spirit, led for most of the distance in the second SECF-Malta race but in the very last metres the Maltese driver was overtaken by French lady Florence Lecellier and her trotter Furey.
Another Maltese driver, Kerstin Catania, finished third, driving Ganniway.
Lecellier had a memorable outing at Marsa yesterday as she then went on to clinch her second win with Lover Boy Index. This trotter jumped into the lead 200m from home to win by two lengths.
Second place went to Michael Ellul (Count of Life) and Julian Farrugia, driving Quick Cape, was third.
In a Premier race, attached to no competition, two trotters - Bello Fratello and Arnie Sensation - crossed the finishing line together so the photo finish had to be consulted.
The verdict went in favour of Anthony Spagnol's Bello Fratello. Socrates was the third horse in.
