The Student Placement Programme, driven by the Malta Information Technology Agency (Mita), was launched last week by Information, Transport and Communication Minister Austin Gatt.
The programme seeks to facilitate temporary job placements for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) students during their summer recess. It is a unique cost-effective opportunity for employers to source additional resources and ICT-related skills for a provisional period.
Organisations benefit from the knowledge of new technologies, ideas and fresh enthusiasm that ICT students bring with them. They also have the opportunity to assess first hand the abilities of these students in the context of longer term employment. "Schemes similar to the Student Placement Programme will allow for future entrants to the workforce to be equipped with the right skills and qualifications together with the right level of experience," said Mita chairman Claudio Grech.
Businesses and students interested in the Student Placement Programme are invited to fill in the online application forms available on www.mita.gov.mt/spp.
Registrations will be accepted until Wednesday. Mita will then match students with registered businesses and the latter will be able to hold one-to-one interviews with all suitable candidates.
Further information may be requested by e-mail on spp.mita@gov.mt or by calling 2599 2474 during office hours.
