The platform of Digi B Network, the digital radio operator broadcasting in DAB+, has increased listenership to 12.2 per cent, Digi B Network managing director Sergio D'Amico said.
The findings were published in the radio and television audience assessment carried out recently by the Malta Broadcasting Authority. Respondents were asked to indicate what type of reception platform they had at home and the survey confirms that digital radio increased to 12.2 per cent listenership by the end of March 2010, an increase of 2.1 per cent in three months.
"Surveys are proving that digital radio is growing in the right direction and it is doing that at a very fast rate," Mr D'Amico said.
Digi B Network Ltd is licensed by the Malta Communications Authority to provide T-DAB services. In October 2008 it rolled out the first commercial DAB+ network in the world, putting Malta at the forefront of the cutting edge technology.
Meanwhile, following the launch of the first DAB+ car stereo, consumers now have a choice of a second model, the RA558, featuring additional functions like Bluetooth and AM reception.
RA558 is available from car entertainment specialists and from retailers.
