Qormi striker Camilo could be on the move this summer after it emerged that German club Hertha Berlin have been closely monitoring his progress.

Well-placed sources have told The Times that the newly-appointed coach of Hertha Berlin, Marcus Babbel, was at the National Stadium on Tuesday to observe Camilo at close quarters during Qormi's FA Trophy semi-final win over Tarxien Rainbows.

The Brazilian striker did his chances of a move to Hertha no harm as he scored Qormi's opening goal in a 2-0 victory.

Hertha, relegated from the Bundesliga last season, are now expected to send a club director and one of their official agents to watch Camilo in tomorrow's final against Valletta with a view to starting discussions over a transfer.

Prolific scorer Camilo, lured to Malta by Bizu, the former Floriana and Sliema striker who now acts as his representative, quickly established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League after joining Qormi last summer.

The Brazilian finished as the Premier League top scorer with 24 goals.

During the January transfer window, Camilo attracted strong interest from a club in South Korea but the transfer failed to materialise.

Given that his contract with Qormi has a few days left to run, Camilo will be able to join a foreign club for free in the close season.
