Athleta wrap up season with Milan trip

Athleta Compleet IS wrapped up their 2009/10 season with a trip to Milan where they played two friendly matches against teams from the Lombardia region.

In the first match, Athleta, who clinched the KO and Super Cup but narrowly missed out on the league title last season, met Basket Town Milano, a club that reached the promotion play-offs of the Regione Lombardia Promotion League this term.

Athleta produced a disciplined performance to emerge victorious 89-66.

Athleta's second friendly was against Serie C side Pallacanestro Milano 1958 who are also involved in the Regione Lombardia promotion play-offs.

Despite facing stronger opposition, Athleta put up a bold challenge and it was only in the latter stages of the match that Pallacanestro Milano established a decisive lead on way to an 83-72 victory.

During their stay in Milan, Athleta players, coaches and club committee members met with Samuel Deguara, Malta's rising basketball star who is turning out for Serie A giants Benetton Treviso.

In a statement, Athleta Basketball Club thanked its main sponsors, namely Compleet IS, Robert Arrigo and Dakkar.
