Foreign Affairs Minister Tonio Borg signed two agreements with his Egyptian counterpart during an official two-day visit to Cairo this week.
The agreements cover a memorandum of understanding on a visa waiver for diplomatic service and special passports and a memorandum of understanding on youth cooperation.
During his visit, Dr Borg also met Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif and Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Amr Moussa.
Meanwhile, Malta and China have started technical discussions to update their agreement on the avoidance of double taxation, following meetings held last month by Dr Borg in Beijing.
Malta's Ambassador to China Karl Xuereb said the revision of this agreement was essential to expand trade and investment between the two countries.
In the last four years, trade with China has increased by 140 per cent.
