The health authority has launched a booklet on breast cancer awareness that will be sold for €3.50 to raise funds for a campaign on the disease.

Every year 220 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Malta, Health Minister Joe Cassar said just before buying a booklet.

This type of cancer could be treated if diagnosed early as statistics showed a 90 per cent survival rate in cases of early detection.

The booklet contains information about self breast examinations and recommendations to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

It will be sold around Malta and Gozo to raise funds for a breast cancer awareness campaign in October.

The booklet was put together by the Health Promotion Department, the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation and the Breast Care Support Group Europa Donna in collaboration with the Helping Hands Foundation.
