In a small high niche adorning the corner between Charity Street and Mgr Giuseppe Farrugia Street in Victoria, the pedestrian can admire a lovely old statue of St Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of youth.

The statue, which seems very old, is in an urgent need of repair. Many Gozitans, Maltese and even foreigners must have noticed it during the recent Lejlet Lapsi Notte Gozitana 2010 held between May 14 and 16. Would it not be possible for some entity who holds dear our local patrimony to volunteer to restore it to its original beauty?
