Wallner to appear at the Old Bailey

A man appeared at the Old Bailey today accused of killing his former wife, whose body was found in a wheelie bin in Surrey.

Chef Peter Wallner, 34, has admitted preventing the lawful and decent burial of Melanie Wallner but denies murder.

Mrs Wallner, 30, who was last seen alive in August 2006, was discovered in a wheelie bin outside the family home in Hamilton Avenue, Cobham.

Her body was alleged to have been kept in a freezer.

Mr Wallner had escaped to Malta in May last year with his Maltese wife Lilia Fenech. Their van was spotting in the UK and Mr Wallner was escorted back to the UK by the police.

A jury panel was selected today and the case is expected to start tomorrow.
