Keith Galea has just qualified as a Krav Maga trainer, the first to get the international recognition in Malta.

The 33-year-old, who went through a series of courses in Sicily before attaining a diploma earlier this month, trained under the tutelage of Rosario Citarda.

Citarda is one of the few master teachers to graduate from the Philippe Kaddouch school, a direct disciple of Imi Lichtenfeld (1910-1998), the Israeli Grandmaster who founded Krav Maga in the late 1940s.

Krav Maga was originally introduced for the Israeli security forces but has since gained interest outside military circles worldwide.

Based on simple principles and instinctive movements, Krav Maga is designed to teach practical self defence in the shortest possible time, giving those practising it a great cardio workout.
