A Libyan man today pleaded guilty in court to stealing a gold necklace worth around €1,200 from Solid Gold jewellery in Sliema last Friday.

Mailood Maolod, 23, initially denied the allegations when questioned by the police, but changed his version when he was shown footage from closed circuit TV.

He was remanded in custody until Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani hands down judgement tomorrow.
