What encouraged you to become a student again after so long and why did you choose law?
I had been meaning to read law for a number of years but things kept cropping up year after year until finally I plucked up enough courage to take the plunge.
Do you consider the age gap between yourself and fellow students in your year as an obstacle? How difficult was it to integrate?
At first I did not integrate much with the other students, especially since I am always too busy to spend time on campus. However, by now I have a good group of friends of all ages and know most of the other students by their first names.
What advice do you give to your daughter now that you are in third year and she is still in her first year of the law course?
I advise my daughter to take the course seriously and not to put off studying until the last minute. I also encourage her to spend time on campus and to involve herself as much as possible in University activities and organisations.
Why did you choose law? Did your mother play a major role in your choice of course?
Although my mother is reading law, I do not believe she played a major role in my choice. If anyone played a role I would say it was my friends.
Does having your mother attend University and being present on campus bother you in any way?
Not at all. We meet regularly and also study together on campus.
Has the fact that your mother has already gone through the examinations and lectures you are attending helped or hindered you? Why?
It does offer a sense of reassurance knowing there is 24/7 help whenever you need it.
