The Malta Environment and Planning Authority has finally given the green light for the embellishment of the third kiosk midway along the Għar id-Dud promenade in Sliema.
After giving the go-ahead for the two kiosks at either side of the recently-upgraded promenade, Mepa acceded to a request for embellishment from the Road Devil Kiosk, which according to Mepa documents was the first to apply in 2001.
The kiosk's owner, Anthony Camilleri, told The Sunday Times that since the go-ahead was given only recently, he would not be able to complete the new structure in time for summer.
However, he said that by November, the modern, green structure would be ready to put in place.
The process to upgrade the kiosk, which has been standing for 35 years, will involve an investment of around €100,000.
The other two kiosks on either side of the promenade are in the process of being replaced.
