Microsoft Europe chairman to address e-skills seminar

Microsoft Europe chairman Jan Muehlfeit will address the 'eSkills Day Seminar' organised by Microsoft Malta at the University on Thursday.

The eSkills Day is another initiative in line with Microsoft Malta's constant efforts to highlight the importance of e-skills as a driver of productivity, competitiveness and innovation in the economy. The event is expected to bring together Mcast and University students, business start-ups, and educational and government executives to discuss major opportunities in the ICT sector.

Mr Muehlfeit, who is also co-chairman of the European e-Skills Association, will also preside over an interactive discussion themed 'The Gap of eSkills in Europe Today, for Tomorrow's Growth'. ICT faculty dean Ernest Cahia, Malta Communications Authority chief of external relations Celia Falzon, education officer in ICT David Degabriele, MITA's chief officer for human capital Peter Xuereb, and Microsoft Malta country manager Pierre Mallia will participate.

During eSkills Day, Microsoft Malta will also be hosting the local Imagine Cup finals. The winning finalists will compete in Microsoft's Imagine Cup finals - dubbed the Olympics for young IT whizzes - in Poland to compete against other international teams.

Attendance for the morning eSkills sessions, including the discussion panel, is by reservation. For bookings call Fiorella Ellul Sullivan at Microsoft Malta on 2289 7000 or e-mail i-fellul@microsoft.com.
